After years of longing for a family, and more than a few desperate prayers, I conceived my first child at 41.
Then at 43, after months of trying again and a pregnancy loss, I conceived my second child and gave birth at 44.
Babies After 40 explores the the hopes, the fears, and the physical realities of starting motherhood in your forties. It also considers the deeper questions about God, time, and what it means to bring new life into a body that is already approaching the end of fertility.

Babies After 40 offers a blend of lived experience, reflection, and guidance to help you move through this season with clarity and intention.
Our generation—the youngest Gen Xers and the oldest millennials—is among the first to include large numbers of women becoming mothers for the first time in their late thirties and forties. We are trying to conceive and raising small children while approaching menopause. By the time our children reach adulthood, many of us will be entering our sixties.
Motherhood at this stage of life changes the way you think about time, the body, and the mystery of human life. Even as our bodies age and our fertile years narrow, the miracle of new life can still unfold.
Although having babies at this age is becoming more common, there’s still very little guidance for what this experience is actually like. Babies After 40 helps fill that gap with detailed articles, intimate reflections, and practical wisdom for the journey ahead.

It's the story of longing that won’t let go, the shock of a positive test, the chaos and wonder of pregnancy, the intensity of birth, and the fierce tenderness of newborn days.
It’s also about caring for a baby while your body and heart heal, navigating a world that gives mothers too little support, and finding God’s hand in every moment.
Honest, raw, and unflinching, this memoir shows what it truly means to become a mother later in life and how that journey transforms everything.
